Every project follows the same sequence, whether it is a single inverter replacement or a full plant commissioning. The dates below are realistic for a medium-sized distributed PV installation in South Africa, but the actual timeline depends on municipal approval lead times and how quickly the client's team responds to technical queries.
Week 1-2
We walk the plant with your team, log inverter fault codes, check string voltages at the combiner boxes, and review the last three months of performance ratio data. You get a written summary of findings within five working days, including photos of any switchgear issues we spot.
Week 3-4
Once the fault list is agreed, we prepare the scope of work, including any grid compliance documentation required by the local municipality. For larger plants this means protective relaying coordination studies and updated single-line diagrams. We handle the submission and track the application until approval comes through.
Week 5-8
This is where the actual repairs happen: replacing faulty DC switchgear, clearing inverter faults, re-torquing connections, and thermal scanning of combiner boxes to catch hot spots before they become failures. We work during daylight hours only and follow a documented lockout-tagout procedure for all DC work.
Week 9-10
After the work is complete, we run a full performance check: string-level I-V curves, inverter efficiency at different irradiance levels, and a comparison of pre- and post-maintenance performance ratio. You receive a close-out report with the measured data and a list of recommended follow-up actions.
Week 11-12
The final handover includes as-built drawings, updated maintenance schedules, and a plain-language summary of what was fixed and why. We also walk your team through any changes to inverter settings or battery dispatch logic so they know what to expect during normal operation.
Most of our work happens on site, but a lot of problems get solved faster over the phone. We keep the same engineers who write the reports available for direct calls, so you are not explaining your inverter fault to a helpdesk agent who has never opened a combiner box.
Response times depend on the severity of the issue and your service level agreement. For urgent faults that affect production or safety, we aim to respond within two hours during business hours. For general technical questions and documentation requests, expect a reply within one working day.

We start with what you already have: inverter fault history, string voltages, PR data from your monitoring platform, and any recent maintenance reports. If you have a specific trip or error code in mind, that shortens the diagnosis considerably.
You send us the raw files or grant read-only access to your monitoring dashboard. No need to clean anything up beforehand.
Before anyone climbs on a roof or opens a combiner box, we work through the likely causes on paper. This covers string sizing checks against your module datasheets, review of protection relay settings, and a look at the as-built drawings.
You receive a short written summary of what we found and what we plan to verify on site.
A scheduled visit to physically check the equipment. This is where we do thermal scanning of combiner boxes, verify DC switchgear condition, measure string currents, and inspect bifacial module soiling patterns.
We work around your operational hours and follow your site safety induction. Typical visits run half a day to two days depending on plant size.
Within a week of the site visit you get a plain-language report. It lists each issue with a photo or measurement where relevant, explains the likely impact on performance or compliance, and ranks fixes by urgency.
No jargon for its own sake. If a fault code points to a specific component, we say so directly.
Depending on what we found, we either carry out the corrective work ourselves or hand you a clear set of instructions for your own maintenance team. This includes reset procedures, cleaning schedules, and any adjustments to string configurations.
For grid compliance items, we also flag the relevant municipal or Eskom paperwork so you are not caught out during an audit.
After the fix is in place, we check that the plant is actually performing as expected. This might be a remote review of your monitoring data over a few weeks, or a short return visit to confirm the issue is fully resolved.
You get a short close-out note so there is a clear record for your files or for the next annual inspection.
